Sodom & Apologies

Sodom & Apologies

Jesus called the religious leaders of his day, “blind guides” and he did not apologize, nor back down, or reframe his comments. But the perverted olympic opening, directed by Thomas Jolly,  that contained an LGBTQ+ representation of Leonardo da Vinci’s last supper, gives a politically correct apology, it did nothing. Personally, I didn’t see it or the apology until it made the news.  Then to hear the repeated phony apology, called “an apology”, is too much. “My wish isn’t to be subversive, nor to mock or to shock,” Jolly said.  But it was obvious to Muslim leaders, Christians, several national presidents, that this was the obvious outcome.
But when Jesus criticized, he was clear, and he didn’t give a phony apology.  “Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were  offended when they heard this saying?” He answered,  “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted  will be rooted up. Let them alone;  they are blind guides.  And  if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” (Matt. 15:12).
When Jesus hears that someone was offended at something he said, does he apologize? He did not. So why didn’t he apologize?  (If I do something or say something wrong, I should apologize. And I have done so personally many times. But nobody wants to hear an unapologetic apology. Why waste my breath and your ears?). But if Jesus spoke the truth, should he apologize? No.
People are not born “murderers”, “pedophiles” or “homosexuals”, but it is a choice that becomes a lifestyle. Sin is a progressive thing. “But evil men and impostors  will proceed from bad to worse,  deceiving and being deceived.” (2Tim. 3:13).
Some homosexuals repented when they heard the gospel. They admitted their guilt. They abandon the sexual sinful lifestyle, and were forgiven when they were born again of the water and the spirit. “Or  do you not know that the unrighteous will not  inherit the kingdom of God?  Do not be deceived;  neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor  effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will  inherit the kingdom of God.  Such were some of you; but you were  washed, but you were  sanctified, but you were  justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God” (1 Cor. 6:9-11). This did not make the front page news at Corinth, but front page news in heaven! But Jesus said, “there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance” (Luke 15:7). May we all be the one sinner who repents and turns to God with all our hearts. I am a great sinner, but Christ is a great savior.     Dan Peters
