Things the Disciple of Christ Knows
For many, the world is a confusing place right now. Everyone seems to be filled with “righteous” indignation, including those who are burning buildings and killing people and some are glorifying and defending the worst offenders. The fact that some of the insurrectionists began burning Bibles is no real surprise; in their world view there is room for no religion but the State.
But true Christians are not the bad guys. In fact, if everyone simply lived by the principles Jesus taught, none of these problems would even exist. If you know a disciple of Jesus Christ who seems to have his or her head on straight no matter how crazy things seem to get, it is because they are confident of certain things regardless of what society says.
True injustice is abominable. Fair standards should be established and applied evenly to everyone (Proverbs 20:23).
Race is irrelevant. God is blind to any characteristic other than a person’s character and the disciple of Christ feels the same way (Romans 2:11).
Government’s role is to punish criminals and protect the innocent. We should work together to ensure they carry out that role as justly as possible, but those who reject the system bring God’s condemnation on themselves (Romans 13:2).
God loves everyone, but there are behaviors He hates. He loved a world of sinners enough to send His Son to die for us (Romans 5:8). But Jesus sacrificed Himself to rescue us from sin, not so we could continue to wallow in it (2 Peter 2:22). It is high time many repented.
Destroying property that belongs to someone else is wickedness and God hates it. The disciple of Jesus makes no excuses for anarchists.
Stealing from others is wickedness and God hates it. Looters are criminals and there is no justification for their self-serving behavior. God will hold them accountable if they do not repent (1 Corinthians 6:10).
Maiming or killing the innocent is wickedness and God hates it. Enough said.
This is my world view and I make no apologies because these are principles that our Creator has revealed to us. Jesus gave us bedrock upon which to build our lives (Matthew 7:24) and no amount of “reeducation” or social pressure will ever move me an inch.
There are good-hearted folks across this land who hate true injustice and who will collectively condemn it when it rears its ugly head. They couldn’t care less about the race of the guy next door, they exhibit a loving attitude toward everyone they meet. They appreciate the dedicated men and women of law enforcement and they see clearly anarchists and criminals for who they are. And by the way, if you don’t like the way they think, it doesn’t matter; they are not out to please you anyway (Galatians 1:10).
